The lector proclaims the Word of God at Mass. The special gifts and skills of the lector draw everyone into the scriptures.
The various tasks of the altar server include assisting with the book of prayers when the presider needs to read from it, helping to set the altar with the bread and wine, and carrying the candles, incense and processional cross. In order to become a server, a person has to have received the sacraments of baptism, reconciliation, and Eucharist and be in at least the fourth grade.
It is the ministry of the usher/greeter to greet people warmly, to help people find seats, to pass out bulletins and pledge cards when needed, to take up the collection and to help with good order at communion.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Appointed by the pastor and commissioned by the Archbishop, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful at Mass. They also bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are ill or homebound.
Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament
Individuals are encouraged to sign up to pray with the Blessed Sacrament in the daily Mass chapel on the first Friday of each month. Adoration is also available every Friday during Lent.
Sacristan-Appointed by the pastor
The work of the sacristan is mostly behind the scenes. He or she is responsible for setting up the liturgical elements for Mass. He or she also cares for the condition of the church, and the vestments, vessels, candles, bread and wine for each celebration of the Eucharist.
