What is the Parish Council?
The Parish Council is an advisory forum designed to bring together the different ministries of the people of God. It is the focal point of co-responsibility where the special gifts and talents of the community may be utilized for the common good. It is the focal point of communication where Parish representatives will provide guidance in a manner of loving service, where different roles of ministry can dialogue, and where the charisms of the people of God can be employed for the common welfare of all.
What is its purpose?
The purpose of this Parish Council shall be to develop and promote our Sacred Purpose and values of Community, Prayer and Evangelization. This includes making recommendations on various aspects of Parish life, initiating programs, forming policies and providing vision for the continued growth and development of the Parish community.
Who is on the Parish Council?
Parish Council shall consist of persons recommended from the parish to the Pastor for approval with a tenure of 3 years that can be extended to 6 years at the Pastor’s digression. The officers of the council are the president who is the Pastor, the chairperson, vice-chairperson and the secretary. The associate pastor and one permanent deacon are ex-officio members. Ordinarily there are 5 at large lay members with potentially 2 members to add expertise or balance large council membership. Ad hoc members are included for representation from the finance council, school advisory council/principal and the property board.
When does the Parish Council meet?
The Parish Council meets monthly usually the second or third Tuesday at 5:30pm in the Parish Office Conference Room.
